Creative Fire: An Artful Metal Retreat in Mexico
February 24th ~ March 2nd, 2027

There is an intuitive kind of making that doesn't begin with a plan.
It begins with a feeling. It follows instinct rather than instruction,
and it ends somewhere you wouldn’t have predicted at the start.
Join me in San Miguel de Allende, an artful colonial city in the heart of Mexico. A city that can’t help but inspire, with its worn cobblestone streets, winding alleyways, and color that has no business being that saturated. A city that insists on beauty without apology. And a stunning backdrop for our creative experience ~ five days of working with metal, following your instincts, and creating something unexpected.
Our retreat will be held at the multi-award winning boutique bed and breakfast, Casa De La Noche, a former bordello with authentically restored rooms, unique art, lush gardens and our very own beautiful project studio. All rooms are single occupancy with private bathrooms, so after a creative day in the studio, you will have your very own private sanctuary for decompression and quiet time.
This is a workshop built around the idea that the most interesting work happens when we stop trying to make it perfect and start trying to make it true.

Six days in San Miguel de Allende
in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico
Lodging, most meals, shuttle to & from airport,
and five full days of Instruction & guidance included.
arrival ~ Wednesday, February 24th, 2027
workshop ~ February 25 ~ March 1st
departure ~ Tuesday, March 2nd, 2027

Small group.
Real work.
A gathering of makers
who are ready
to burn
a little brighter.

the nitty gritty:
For artists and makers drawn to intuitive process, organic form, and the kind of creative freedom that happens when we leave all expectations behind.

Workshop:
Come with ideas, but release expectations. There will be group demos and gatherings each day to set these ideas in motion, then I will be available to guide and encourage you on your own project.
Experience with any kind of torch and the basics of soldering recommended.
This is a "pop-up" studio event. While we will have a lovely, light filled space to create in, we will each need to bring a handful of our own tools with us that will require checking a bag. I will have a supply list available before the end of September to give you plenty of time to gather your Traveling Jeweler's Toolkit together. Most likely you will already have most of the things needed.
Arrival/Departure:
Recommended airports are Querétaro, MX (airport code QRO)
or Léon, MX (airport code BJX). An approximately 1.5 hour shuttle is included from either airport, as well as a return shuttle. When booking your return flight, be sure to account for the time it will take to shuttle to the airport.
Accommodations:
Accommodations are private, single occupancy rooms that include wi-fi, air conditioning, purified water, and private bathrooms. Rooms will be assigned upon arrival. No shared accommodations, though non workshop participants may stay with you in your room (partner, friend, sister, etc.) for a modest additional fee (email me for more information if you wish to bring someone else along).
